FORMER governor of Benue State, Dr Gabriel Suswam and the governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo have expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would bounce back in 2019.
The duo spoke during the burial ceremony of Suswam’s grandmother in Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State last weekend.
Suswam particularly said the party had remained cohesive as the members were building on their solidarity.
“We are strategising and taking advantage of the loopholes which we are witnessing under the APC government and it’s our sincere hope that we will bounce back in 2019,” Suswam said.
On his assessment of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Suswam said: “I don’t think I would judge the government as of now. I am watching its performances and at an appropriate time I will give my comment as to whether it has performed or not.
“I think it’s left for the people to judge the performance of the present administration as to whether they have met the desires of the people who voted them into power.”
Governor Dankwambo on his part said PDP would surprise Nigerians, saying “I am optimistic that we will bounce back in 2019 due to the impressive performance of our party, PDP.
“We had a clear democracy in the last 16 yrs, we provided a clear playing ground for all political parties and so for any political party to come into power and undermine what we did, such party should have a rethink,” Dankwambo said.
