MINISTER of Power, Works and Housing,
Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, has promised the
physically challenged Nigerians that the National
Housing Programme, NHP is all inclusive and
will benefit them irrespective of their status and
The Minister disclosed this at the Town Hall
meeting organised to mark the Second Year
Anniversary of President Buhari’s Administration,
held at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
In a statement issued by the Assistant Director,
Information Mrs. Eno Olotu, Fashola assured
them that they were captured in the programme
to give everyone a sense of belonging and
opportunity to home ownership.
Also, to ensure the built environment conforms
with the best international practices, he said the
National Building Code is undergoing a radical
transformation which will change the way
building was constructed.
He emphasised that the building designs would
be done in a way to accommodate structures for
those with special needs.
The Minister, while giving his midterm report on
the performance of his Ministry, said the housing
sector has undertaken inspection and monitoring
of various housing sites across country.
He said with the massive on-going construction
works at sites, government has been able to
provide employment opportunities for artisans
and other professionals in the built environment.
Recall that 13,680 direct and 41,040 indirect
jobs have so far been created with the ministry
