SOCIO-POLITICAL group under the aegis of Plateau Regeneration Group, PRG, has congratulated the governorelect of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, over his victory at the polls, stressing that the people would not regret voting for the All Progressives Congress, APC. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Akeredolu of the APC winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State. Akeredolu polled 244,842 votes to beat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 150,380 votes, while Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, followed with 126,889 votes. In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Nagelu Garba, and National Secretary, Pius Hoomen, and made available to journalists in Jos, yesterday, the group also congratulated the Chairman, Ondo State APC Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, for selling Akerdolu’s candidacy to the people of Ondo State. “We congratulate Governor Lalong and his team for overcoming the difficulties in delivering Ondo to the APC family. Our governor is a man with the Midas touch, who turns everything he handles into gold, we hail you for delivering on the herculean task and justifying the confidence reposed on you by President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC family that has successfully led to the victory of Akeredolu. “If Lalong can defeat the PDP in faraway Ondo, he can walkover it in Plateau come 2019. As a group, we are confident that Akerdolu’s victory would bring about massive development in the state. “Before the election, as Chairman of the campaign committee, Governor Lalong vowed to reconcile some aggrieved members of the party and assured the APC of victory and he delivered, proving that he is a man of his words. “Akeredolu is the ideal person to lead Ondo as he is a selfless politician with peerless leadership. We call on the people of the state and Nigerians in general to continue to support the APC as the party would not let Nigerians down”. The statement also lauded the people of Ondo for coordinating themselves orderly during the election.
