People of Plateau State have hailed the nomination of Barrister Solomon Dalung as minster by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the president’s choice conforms with his anti-corruption posture.
“Solomon Dalung is tested. He stands for the truth and what is right, and is never shy to oppose what is wrong. He was local government chairman in Langtang South and did very well in the area of infrastructural development,” an elder statesman, Dr. Nandul Durfa, told our correspondent yesterday.
Durfa, who recalled the period in 2007 when Dalung was a local government chairman for seven months, said Langtang-South wore a different look because of the infrastructural development strides of the radical politician.
Many people said Dalung is not only fitting in this era of change, but added that he represents the new spirit of anti-corruption and other social ills because of his public condemnation of the violent crises in Plateau State and the corruption of Nigerian leaders.
Also speaking to our correspondent, an elder statesman and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, hailed Buhari for nominating Dalung as Minster of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to him, “Dalung is a qualified and hardworking lawyer who would work with Buhari to bring change to the people of the country. Buhari has selected those he can work with so he should be given the benefit of doubt.
‘‘He was voted massively by the people and he would not let them down, I am confident that those he has selected would perform well.’’
Similarly, the Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Dan Dul, said the Tarok Nation is “proud that one of us who distinguished himself through his dogged nature has been chosen by Mr. President as a ministerial nominee.’’
He called on the people of the state to forget their political differences and support his nomination in order to bring meaningful projects and development to Tarok Nation and the country at large.
Also, a former Chairman of Langtang South Local Government Council, Hitler Dadi, who spoke to our correspondent, also commended President Buhari for nominating Dalung as a member of the Federal Executive Council, stressing that he would represent the interest of the state and the nation at large.
