Member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Solomon Maren has assured members of his constituency that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will bounce back and regain power at the centre.‬
‪Maren said at meeting with party loyalists from Bokkos local government area in Plateau at the weekend that he appreciated them and the people of the locality for voting him to represent them in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.‬
‪He said that the PDP, being “the founder of modern democracy in Nigeria, had nurtured and sustained civil rule devoid of any obstruction for 16 years.‬
‪’’Today, democracy is standing firm in Nigeria in general and Plateau in particular because the PDP was able to nurture and sustain it for the past 16 years.‬
‪’’All the dividends of good governance that Nigerians are enjoying today became possible because the PDP was able to lay a solid foundation for their actualisation.‬
‪’’The PDP, whether in power or as an opposition party, remains the largest party not only in Nigeria but in the whole of Africa,’’ he said.‬
‪The lawmaker assured the people that the PDP in Plateau was doing all it could to regain the mantle of leadership both in the state and at the federal level.‬
‪He claimed that the party lost the control of the state to the All Progressives Congress, APC, because of anti-party activities by some members.‬
‪Maren, however, called on all members of the party to join hands and ensure that it emerged victorious in subsequent elections.‬
‪He opined that with the number of PDP legislators at both the federal and state levels, “it is evident that it can still make great impact in any future elections.‬’’
‪Responding, the PDP Chairman in the area, Mr. Michael Angwai, charged the lawmaker not to fail the people of his constituency.‬
‪He commended him for his show of appreciation, saying it was the first of its kind in the annals of the constituency.
