SUSTAINABLE Development Goals, SDGs, through its project support unit presented education and health facilities worth N1.2 billion to communities in six local government areas of Plateau State. Nigerian Pilot gathered that the councils that benefited from this gesture are Wase, Jos North, Barkin Ladi, Shendam, Mangu and Kanke, as communities from two council areas were selected from each of the three senatorial districts to benefit from the donation which include completed block of classrooms and other school materials. Our correspondent gathered that items presented to the council areas are completed block of classrooms, chalk, dual desks, instructional materials, exercise books, English and Mathematics textbooks and toilet compartments for pupils and teachers. Others are completed blocks of primary health centres, hospital equipment that include microscopes, wheel chairs, ambulances which serve as mobile clinic, hospital consumables, generating sets and solar powered boreholes. Speaking while presenting the items to council chairmen at the weekend, the State Project Coordinator, Sam Damla, said they were presented after needs assessment of respective local government councils in the area of education, health and water sanitation. He said the technical committee undertook a tour of the six council areas after meeting with the chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders and youth groups to arrive at the people’s area of need.
