Detectives from the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of Lagos state Police Command, Panti-Yaba, on Monday, arraigned five men who allegedly stole stock-fish head valued at N11.5 million before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ebute-metta, Lagos.
The five accused persons; Emeka Chukwu, 41; Chidi Ekah, 41; Edwin Onyebuchi, 39; Ndubisi Obiora, 37; and Abuchi Nwani, 35, were arraigned before Chief Magistrate O. I. Adelaja led-court on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Daniel Ighodalo, informed the court that the offences were committed on January 27, 2015, at Iddo motor park, Ebute Metta.
Ighodalo alleged that the accused persons connived and stole sacks containing stock-fish head valued at N11.5 million belonging to one Ejim Okwudiri.
He informed the court that the offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 285 (a) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Upon the plea of the accused persons, Chief Magistrate Adelaja, admitted them to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She, however, adjourned and fixed February 29, for mention.
