Police nab 3 kidnappers, rescue 4 victims in Kogi

Police in Uyo has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of late Dr Ivy Umana.
PPRO of the state command, Asp Cordelia Nwawe confirmed to newsmen.
Earlier the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Akwa Ibom Chapter, had condemned the murder of the late Head, Department of Pathology, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH.
Dr Augustine Umoh, the state chairman of the association, who described the murder as one too many, lamented the incident, stressing that the association was in deep shock over the alleged brutal murder of the medical doctor.
Nigerian Pilot Sunday recalls that the late Umana, 44, who was stabbed in the head, was found dead in her Shelter Afrique residence in Uyo on Friday.
Umoh described the act as barbaric and inhumane and appealed to relevant security agencies to ensure that they apprehend the perpetrators.
“Late Dr Umana contributed immensely to the development and accreditation of the Department of Pathology, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.
“She was a professional of the highest order who gave her best to save lives and promote healthy living,” said Umoh and pleaded with the police to ensure that those behind the heinous crime were brought to book.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, had at the weekend confirmed the murder and equally disclosed that investigation was in top gear to unmask the murderers of the medical doctor.
He also confirmed that two suspects had been arrested and were helping the police in their investigation.
