Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has arrested three suspects who specialised in robbing churches in the territory.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that while one Chibueze Ike was arrested trying to rob St. Matthew Catholic Church in Karmo, Isaac Nyam and Obodo Stephen were nabbed as they attempted to rob at Kingdom Connection Church, Jabi Daki Biu.
Parading the suspects to the media, FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu reiterated that the police under his command would not relent on its fight against crime.
“The fight is a continuous one. We will continue to re-strategize to make sure that we are ahead of the criminals,” the CP vowed.
He also paraded two suspects who allegedly attempted to commit murder.
“On April 27 at about 9am, one Kolawole Yakubu ‘m’ of Angwan Shehu, Karmo, was arrested after intelligence information was received by the police at Karimo division that he has been threatening to shoot his girlfriend with a gun. After a search was conducted at his house, a locally made pistol, one cartridge, two axes and four cutlasses were recovered. Also arrested in connection with the case is his friend, one Temitope Paul. The suspects will be charged and arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
The police also, acting on tip off, arrested three suspects on April 26 in connection with the theft of iron doors at Gwarinpa.
“Eleven stolen iron doors were recovered from the suspects. Investigation into the case is still ongoing.
“Similarly, the Apo Police Division last week recovered two stolen vehicles that were reported to have been stolen. The suspects abandoned the cars and took to their heels on sighting Police personnel on patrol. Efforts are been intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
“Ibrahim Yusuf, a notorious handbag snatcher who has been tormenting the Central Area of the FCT, has been arrested around Finance Junction by the Central Police Station, FCT Police Personnel. Preliminary investigations have led to the arrest of two other suspects who are believed to be receivers of the stolen handbags’ contents. The Nyanya Police Division last weekend commenced a clampdown on miscreants terrorizing the area. Among the suspects arrested are seven suspected handbag snatchers and pocket pickers who specialized in operating at areas that attract large crowd especially motor parks.
“The Nyanya Police Division has arrested one Godwin Dominic, 18 years, and Mathew Isaac, 19 years, who are professionals in snatching handsets from their victims and extorting money from them. The sum of N2, 500 was recovered from the suspects while the third member of the gang absconded with the snatched handset.”
