A suspected baby factory operator, eight pregnant girls and two boys have been arrested by police at a suspected baby factory in Asaba, the Delta state capital.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest yesterday in Asaba gave the name of the suspected baby factory operator as John Mary Ihezue.
DSP Kalu listed the names of the eight pregnant girls arrested at the baby factory as; Ihezue Nkemjika, Amaka Agu, Isioma Anukwu, Blessing Okafor, Imezoma Okeke, Chioma Oje, Precious Ihemine, Nzube Chukwu; and two boys – one Prince Chukwu and Obum Nwankwo – were also arrested from the said baby factory.
According to the PPRO, on 30th July, 2015 about 2038hrs, Police detectives from GRA Division, Asaba, while acting on a tip off raided a suspected baby factory opposite Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Asaba and arrested its operator, one John Mary Ihezun ‘m’. Eight pregnant girls, namely (1) Ihezue Nkemjika, (2) Amaka Agu, (3) Isioma Anukwu, (4) Blessing Okafor, (5) Imezoma Okeke, (6) Chioma Oje, (7) Precious Ihemine, (8) Nzube Chukwu, and two boys, one Prince Chukwu and Obum Nwankwo.”
Kalu added that investigation into the matter was in progress.
Similarly, the Police image-maker stated that; “on same day about 2230hrs, surveillance patrol team from Ozoro Division while on routine patrol, arrested one Pastor Oro Oboreh, ‘m’ of Christ Freedom Family aka Amazing Grace, Ozoro, in a cemetery at Ozoro with one Chioma Praise (f), aged 14 years.
“The suspect claimed that he was performing spiritual healing on the said Chioma Praise to enable her attain academic prowess”, adding that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
