Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Emmanuel Amore yesterday confirmed the kidnap of the younger brother of the state’s deputy governor, Honourable Ahmed Musa Ibeto.
The victim, Ayuba Ibeto was abducted in Ibeto town in Magama Local Government of the state last weekend.
He made the confirmation in an interactive session with journalists in his office in Minna, the state capital, saying the victim had been taken outside the state while the kidnappers were in touch with the family.
Accordingly, he said police were “working round the clock to rescue the victim and arrest the kidnappers, while we have deployed special team to Kontagora axis of the state to work with officers and men on the ground.
“We are using this medium to appeal to members of the public, especially in Niger State in an era of community policing where the Commissioner of Police’s telephone numbers alongside the telephone numbers of the area commanders and the Divisional Police Officers are available with the view that the members of the public can inform the police about strange movements and faces in their communities can be reported to the police, ” he stated.
