Police in Rivers State have confirmed the killing of a staff of Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, Mr Zubairu Olalekan in the state.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that Olalekan, a 42-year-old staff of NAOC, was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Mgbuoshimiri community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state around 7am while about to leave for work yesterday.
It was further gathered that the victim, whose wife is heavily pregnant, was the acting deputy manager in charge of Information and Communications, ICT, of the Italian oil company.
A source in the area revealed that the unknown gunmen laid siege outside the victim’s house and shot him dead while he was about driving out for work.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, DSP, Ahmad Muhammad, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the victim was shot dead outside his house.
He said the command had intensified efforts to track down the fleeing killers.
