Oyo State Police Command yesterday said about 30,000 policemen would be deployed for the governorship and Houses of Assembly elections on Saturday.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammadu Musa Katsina who said that 20,000 policemen were deployed for the presidential and National Assemble elections, disclosed that enforcement would come from the police headquarters, Abuja, and Zone 11, Osogbo.
Katsina said during the Saturday election, there would be strategy where police intelligence would be at each polling centre.
He added that they were expected to give on the spot assessment report of some flash points in the state.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 41 suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Argugu Police Division, CSP Ikeokwu Nworgu.
Katsina stated that the hoodlums attacked the DPO while carrying out his legitimate duty at Adekile area in the state capital.
According to him, the hoodlums made away with his service pistol and the suspects also set the house and two others on fire after looting valuable property therein.
He said the suspects would be charged to court for murder and arson.
Items recovered from them included machetes, guns, charms and other lethal weapons used in committing the crime.
Also, the police boss said some properties looted from the scene had been recovered.
