Police Service Commission, PSC, has announced the promotion of 14 Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCP, to the rank of Commissioner of Police, CP.
The PSC also approved the promotion of 58 other senior police officers.
According to a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the promotion approval came after the commission’s plenary meeting.
Although the statement did not list the names of the promoted officers, the breakdown showed that apart from the 14 promoted DCPs as CPs, 20 assistant commissioners of police, ACP were elevated to deputy commissioner of police, DCP.
Five chief superintendents of police, CSP were promoted to assistant commissioner of police, ACP and one superintendent of police, SUPOL was promoted to chief superintendent of police, CSP.
Others are 30 deputy superintendents of police, DSP to superintendent of police, one assistant superintendent of police to deputy superintendent of police and one inspector to assistant superintendent of police.
The statement said the promotions take immediate effect.
