Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja Police command has apprehended two suspects allegedly impersonating the National Security Adviser, NSA.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters, the FCT Command Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said police operatives attached to the command criminal intelligence and investigation department arrested the suspects following a tip off.
ASP Manzah said the suspects, Onoja Clement and Ogbo Ogwugwu, are part of a notorious syndicate that specialise in impersonating highly placed public personalities, including the NSA with the intention of duping unsuspecting Very Important Personalities, VIP.
The police spokesman said the mode of operation of the syndicate was the use of complementary cards of highly placed persons they claim to represent.
He said, “the suspects confessed to the offence during interrogation and they will be charged and arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
The PPRO charged members of the public to be wary of people who operate in this way or in any other form, even as he encouraged the public to report such acts at a nearest police station.
The suspects however, denied the police claim as the duo said they were businessmen.
