TO ENSURE a violence-free Eidel-
Fitri celebrations, the Inspector-
General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase,
has directed Commissioners of Police
across the country to improve security
in their commands.
Arase instructed them to pay special
attention to all places of worship,
critical public institutions and other
places prone to criminal attack.
The IGP’s order was contained in
a statement issued yesterday by the
Force spokesman, Mr. Emmanuel
Ojukwu said the Police High
Command is hopeful that the
operational strategies adopted by the
Force and renewed collaboration with
the public will yield positive results
during the period.
While felicitating with Muslims as
they conclude the Ramadan fast, the
IGP enjoined them and other Nigerians
to be vigilant and continue to support
the Police with useful information
towards preventing and unearthing
crimes and their perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital
Territory, FCT Police Commissioner,
Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, has assured
Abuja residents that the command had
made adequate security arrangements
to ensure seamless celebration of Eidel-
Inalegwu directed the strengthening
of security around all praying grounds,
shopping malls, gardens, recreational
spots, places of worship, critical
infrastructures, motor parks and areas
that attract large gatherings of people.
The CP, who met with Area
Commanders and Divisional Police
Officers in the command, directed that
proactive strategy should be adopted
by the officers to ensure the security of
lives and property before, during and
after the Sallah celebrations.
Through his spokesman, ASP
Anjuguri Manzah, Inalegwu reiterated
that while the Command is redoubling
its effort to provide effective security
for all, FCT residents are to take full
advantage of the command’s 24-hour
emergency lines to alert the police on
situations that may require prompt

Plot to unleash terror on Kaduna
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of
Kaduna State security outfit, known
as Operation Yaki, Col. Yakubu Yusuf
(rtd), has revealed some intelligence
gatherings and warned the people to
be security conscious.
He said some miscreants were
planning to unleash terror on the state
during the Sallah celebration.
A statement signed by the Special
Assistant to the Coordinator, Isa
Adamu, said security operatives have
been tasked to be more proactive at
worship centres, parks, recreational
centres and highways to nip in the bud
any mischievous move in the state.
The statement also warned the
general public to avoid accommodating
unknown persons who may come
under a pretext to seek for one favour
or the other.
