Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 986 senior police officers, and appointed its Director of Administration and Finance, Mr. Emmanuel Ibe, as acting Secretary of the commission.
PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed in a statement that the promotions were approved at the commission’s 14th plenary meeting held in Abuja.
Ani said commissioner of police, CP Shuaiba L. Gambo has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, while deputy commissioners of police, DCPs Jonah Jackson Mava, Olusola Babajide David, Titus Sumba Lamorde, Chika Abubakar Maidama and Abdullahi Chafe Ibrahim, have been promoted to the next rank of commissioner of police.
The statement reads: “The commission approved the promotion of CP Shuaiba L. Gambo to the next substantive rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, while DCP Jonah Jackson Mava, Olusola Babajide David, Titus Sumba Lamorde, Chika Abubakar Maidama and Abdullahi Chafe Ibrahim were elevated to the next rank of commissioner of police.
“The commission also approved the elevation of 16 assistant commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, 21 chief superintendents to assistant commissioners and three superintendents to chief superintendent.
“It also approved the promotion of nine deputy superintendents to superintendents and 931 assistant superintendents to deputy superintendents. Two acting DCPs, four acting ACPs and one acting CSP were also confirmed.”
