Police in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja has indicated its resolve to stepped up the fight against crime and criminalities in the territory.
Consequently, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP, Wilson Inalegwu has restated the need for communities within the territory to partner with the Command in its renewed crime fighting strategy.
CP Inalegwu noted that the partnership has contributed meaningfully in the successes the Command has, so far, recorded in its onslaught against criminals and their nefarious activities.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Abuja Police spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, the CP reiterated that the Command will continue to operate an open door policy that will include the participation of FCT residents in its fight against crime.
ASP Manzah said the Abuja police chief made the pledge at the weekend when he visited Galadimawa community to inaugurate its newly built police outpost.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the police outpost was the initiative of the Officer-in-Charge Galadima, DSP Uket Ofem with the support of well-meaning members of the of the community.
Earlier in his remarks, the District Head of Galadimawa, Alhaji Musa Barde, while expressing his appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for setting an indelible record of being the first Commissioner of Police to visit the community, commended the effort of the Police personnel attached to the outpost for being alive to their duty and putting forth gallant fight against criminals in the community.
It would be recalled that last week, FCT police detectives arrested two suspected members of a robbery gang wrecking havoc at Zenco Garden Estate on Airport Road, Abuja.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters, Garki, ASP Manzah said the suspects were arrested at the scene of operation after engaging in a shootout with police officers.
The Police PRO said, “The gallant operatives of the Command have successfully busted a notorious armed robbery syndicate that was operating at Zenco Garden Estate Lugbe on 9/9/15 at about 0130am. This feat was achieved during a gun duel between the syndicate and Police personnel while responding to a distress call that the gang was carrying out a major robbery operation at the Estate. Police units raced to the scene where the robbery suspects were met and were engaged in a shootout. Two suspects were arrested after sustaining serious gunshot injuries while other suspects managed to flee the scene with various degrees of bullet wounds.
He said the FCT CP has commended the police personnel for their gallantry and resilience that saw to the defeat of the armed robbers, and also enjoined other personnel of the command to follow suit.
