Police in Enugu state have smashed a hideout used by kidnappers and other criminals at Ifroka Amalla in Udenu Local Government Area near the university town of Nsukka.
The police raid carried out in the early hours of June 1 involved the combined efforts of operatives of the State Anti Kidnapping Unit and that of Udenu Police division.
In a statement on the crime burst, Mr. Ebere Amarizu, the Enugu Command’s Public Relations Officer, said three notorious members of a gang already in the wanted list of the Police were nabbed.
Their crime activities ranged from kidnapping and armed robbery to other crimes.
The suspects gave their names as Sunday Ugwu (alias Ogwu), Friday Odo (alias Sokom), and Kigsley Chionye Odo (alias Chiboy).
All three are from Amalla town in Udenu and still are helping the police in their investigations and are said to have made useful disclosures that will help to reduce crime.
Among the items recovered from the gang is a Barretta pistol with three rounds of live ammunition and large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
