Nigeria Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, has called for increase in security awareness following the prevailing security situation in the country.
The call was made at the end of POWA’s two day convention held in Abuja, the nation’s capital, where the body urged its members to be conscious of their environment.
Led by the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of POWA, Mrs. Agharase Arase, the convention also elected some officers following the expiration of two years tenure of the outgoing executives.
The elected POWA officials are Mrs. Esther Orobosa Etim, National secretary, Mrs. Zainab Hamisu, National Assistant Secretary. Mrs. Bukola Towuru, Publicity Secretary. Mrs. Bahago Ahmed Hauwa, Treasurer and Mrs. Veronica Ogochi, Financial Secretary, according to a release signed by Force PRO, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, the POWA convention took place at its National Secretariat, Hera Okiro House, Asokoro FCT Abuja.
Meanwhile, the POWA President, Mrs. Arase has assured that she would work with the new executive and ensure that the welfare of officer’s wives is improved on, as well as to develop children within the Police community through counseling, skill acquisition and economic empowerment.
The convention had over 300 POWA members in attendance.
