League Management Company, LMC has said that the 2014/2015 Nigeria Premier league season will resume on Sunday nationwide after a joint meeting with the club Owners Association.
LMC however disclosed that the match involving Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars slated for Warri on Sunday has been postponed indefinitely because of the Seasiders’ eight players in the Super Eagles and the U23 national team camps which left the premier league side half strength.
Acting secretary of the Club Owners Association, Alloy Chukwuemeka told Goal that matches of the premier league will go ahead as earlier scheduled this weekend after a joint meeting with the LMC sanctioned league’s continuation in line with the three-week break given to allow for smooth hand over of government and also for other reasons.
He told Goal: “The league will continue this weekend with Week 11 matches. We met in Abuja and agreed that the league season should not be further truncated with series of postponement. There are other decisions reached that will be communicated to the media later.”
In the Week 11 slated for Sunday, Giwa FC will host Gabros International FC, Dolphins and Sharks will tango in the Port Harcourt derby while El Kanemi Warriors and FC Taraba will file out in Kano.
Wikki Tourists and Enyimba are in for a tough battle in Bauchi while Heartland FC will hope to commencement the usage of their new kits with a home tie with Bayelsa United in Owerri. 3SC will start life with new head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote with a home tie with Lobi Stars in Ibadan.
In other matches fixed for Sunday, Nasarawa United will slug it out with Akwa United in Lafia, Kwara United and Enugu Rangers have a score to settle in Ilorin while Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars will jostle for the three points in Umuahia.
Sunshine Stars sit atop the league table with 20 points and they are followed by Kano Pillars (18 points), Enyimba (18 points), Gabros International FC (17 points) and Giwa FC (17 points) while Bayelsa United (10 points), Lobi Stars ( nine points), Sharks (eight points) and 3SC (eight points).
