President Muhammed Buhari has reiterated the commitment of his administration to continue fighting corruption and terrorism in the country.
The president made the declaration yesterday at the Nigeria Air Force Re-union 2016 which was part of activities to mark the 52 anniversary of Nigeria Air Force held at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi.
Represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olanisakin, the president reiterated the determination of the federal government to end corruption and terrorist activities.
He assured the government’s resolve to do everything possible to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians as well as ensure development across the country.
“This event is coming at a time the Nigeria Air Force and other sister agencies are fully employed in the fight against insurgency in the country. The federal government will continue to vigorously pursue the change agenda and much more will be demanded of the military,” he said.
The president thereby enjoined retired officers and men of the Nigeria Air Force to join the fight against terrorism and commended the Nigeria Armed Forces for their effort in the fight against insurgency in the North-East geo-political zone.
“The choice of a re-union underscores the need to always liaise with the retired and experienced officers and men to address peculiar service related matter. The objective of re-union which is to enhance Nigeria Air Force operational capability through partnership with retired personnel in order to attain a vibrant air force is key to the development of a professional air force
In his address, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Saddique Abubakar said the aim of the re-union was to create a forum for wider consultation in order to reposition Nigeria Air Force for effective service delivery in response to Nigeria’s national security.
