Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill has alleged that the just conducted gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state were characterised by violence and killings.
The LP candidate who broke his silence on the outcome of the last Saturday elections, in a statement, reacted that large numbers of casualties and damages were recorded in the state. He argued that the killings that followed the governorship and house of assembly elections in state were unnecessary.
He, however, thanked his numerous supporters and party enthusiasts, assuring that, as the leader of Labour Party in the state, he would be meeting with his aides and other party chieftains to consider the next line of action, following the outcome of the elections.
It would be recalled that few days ago ,a forum of other political parties, who gathered to x-ray the just concluded elections, had called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cancel the Rivers State governorship and house of assembly election, which they claimed was characterised by massive rigging, killing and other vices. INEC had declared Chief Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winner of the governorship election in the state, having polled majority of the votes cast in the elections.
