A former militant leader and National President of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, Mr Isreal Akpodoro has warned Niger Delta youths against continued act of violence and economic sabotage in the region.
This warning became relevant as Nigerian Army of the 222 Battalion Agbarho in Ughelli North on Tuesday arrested two suspected vandals who were believed to have blew up oil and gas facilities belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC.
The duo of Gabriel Ogbudje and Elvis Dweller Ogbus, were arrested by men of the Operation Delta Safe over the havoc they allegedly wrecked on the pipelines at Ogor Oteri swamps in Ughelli North and South Local Government Areas of Delta State on a tip off.
Both suspects were reportedly at large until detectives swooped on them in their hidden places.
According to sources, the two suspects were already telling the army all they knew about the destruction of oil facilities in the area.
While sounding a note warning to the youth of urhoboland, Mr Akpodoro, who is a well known pro Buhari Ex-militant leader, stated that on no account should any youth of urhobo extraction engage in economic sabotage against the national patrimony. He noted that such was a crime whialling on parents to call their wards to order adding that the security forces in the region may embark on vicarous treatment of the families and associates of vandals to drive home their desires to cleanse the region of criminal elements.
Recall that a new militant group, Utorogu Liberation Movement had earlier threatened to blow off the West Africa’s largest gas plant at Otorogu while announcing its emergence in the Niger Delta region.
Report says the group in a banner message issued by Gen. K. Omovudu and others which was placed near the Motor Park in Otu-Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South council, also declared support for the Niger Delta Avengers an action which attracted wide condemnations by prominent sons and daughters of Urhoboland including Akpodoro.
The National President also urge all youth in the region to forward Thier grievances to him if any instead of vandalization of government properties.
