A Former Minister of information Professor Jerry Gana has expressed confidence that the crisis rocking the peoples Democratic Party,PDP, would soon be a history.

Gana stated this in Abakaliki yesterday when he visited the state Governor,David Umahi, apparently because of the crisis.

Professor Gana led the PDP concerned stakeholders who ‘sacked’ Ali Modu Sheriff led national working committee of the party,an action which deepened the party’s crisis culminating to its factionalization.

He said the action of the Party’s concerned stakeholders was never aimed at dividing it as being insinuated in some quarters but to further strengthen the party.

The former Minister said he wouldn’t have been a party to destroying a political party he labored with other stakeholders to form.

Gana who admitted he was in Ebonyi because of the crisis acknowledged the effort of governor Umahi in resolving the impasse.

“I am very confident that the crisis will soon be over. Let me also acknowledge the efforts of your own governor in resolving the crisis. It is the part of the reasons that i am here”.

“Of course you know i am one of those leading the Abuja Group. We did not lead that group to divide the party. That is not the point. We did not joined this party ;we formed it, so we can’t destroy it”.

He said as founding fathers, they couldn’t have watched while things were going wrong in the party.

“The main thing is that we are protesting some fundamentals which were going wrong. As founding fathers we can’t see and watch things go wrong”.

He said imposition would never be allowed in the party again, adding that at all times, the people’s will should be allowed to prevail as that was the essence of democracy and the principle for which the Party was formed.

“The PDP was built on a very powerful principle of power to the people and that is the essence of democracy. Let the people choose and when they choose you respect their will. You don’t impose, there should not be impunity, you don’t manipulate”.

He said the party did not want to make the kind of mistakes it made in 2015 again.

He urged members of the party including Modu Sheriff to embrace peace and obey the agreement they reached in the Portharcourt,Rivers state
