Barely two weeks to the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly, youths under the aegis of All Progressives Congress North Central and North West Youths said they were throwing their weight behind the candidacy of Hon. Yakubu Dogara as the next Speaker.
In a separate statement issued in Abuja, by the North Central youth chairman Comrade Suleman Ahmed and Comrade Mohammed Musa for the North-West zone, stated that Hon. Dogara over the years had garnered experience which will according to the them benefit the nation if elected speaker of the 8th House of Reps.
Dogara who represents Bogoro/Dass/ Tafawa Balewa constituency in the lower chamber is one of the strong contenders to the seat of speakership.
Other contenders include minority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon. Jubril Abdulmumini
The group said that Dogara’s track records as a ranking legislator was an asset and needed to tapped.
The statement read in parts “We the APC North Central and North West Youths wish to lend our voice in support of this democratic icon.
According to the Northern youths, if the next 8th House of Reps is allowed to be led by Dogara, the nation would see the difference.
“Once again with barely two weeks away from the inauguration, we want the entire world to know why we are throwing our weight behind this great gentle politician, who does not know the barrier between Christians and other religions. His track record as a legislator over the years has proven his capacity to harness resources for our collective use”.
