Properties worth millions of naira was over the weekend destroyed by heavy rainstorm witnessed in some parts of Bauchi metropolis in Bauchi state but however no life was lost as a result of the heavy downpour.
The communities of Yelwa and Gwallameji all in Bauchi local government area were seriously affected as the rainfall started Saturday evening witnessed thunderstorm in the area before it was followed by heavy storm which blew away roofs of residential buildings, churches, schools and shops along its path., in addition to the electric poles in the area.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that about 11 electricity cables along Yelwa road, adjacent to the Yelwa Police Station were seriously damaged which resulted to the total blackout of power supply in the area.
‪Other areas affected as a result of the heavy downpour which lasted for about one and half hours include buildings such as the Yelwa Police Shopping complex and other residential houses that left motorist stranded following the flooding along Bauchi Dass busy road.
Most of the residents interviewed after the rain called on the authorities concerned to come to their aid, as a result of the serious damage that followed the heavy rain pour which has affected their lives.
