Disturbed by the utterances of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Jumai Aisha Alhassan, a group under the auspices of the Southern Taraba Forum for a Just Society, STFJS, has urged the Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku not to be disturbed but to remain focused for the assignment the people of the state have given him.
Coordinator of the group, Caleb Agyu and Secretary Barrister Hajiya Talatu Ibrahim in a statement said the governor got the mandate of the people and nothing should deter him from doing his work.
Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, according to the group defeated Alhassan the APC candidate in the gubernatorial election overwhelmingly and they say they could not understand why Senator Alhassan has continued to disturb the people of the state.
The group wondered why the APC candidate has dragged Ishaku to the election petition tribunal sitting in Jalingo but could not allow the tribunal to carry out the assigned functions.
“She even accused the PDP and INEC of collectively rigging the election against her insisting also that the security agents were partisan during the election,” the group stated.
While revealing that Alhassan has been publicly calling for cancellation of the entire election for a fresh poll to hold, the group also noted that
her utterances in the public portend disrespect for lawyers and the law of which she is supposed to belong.
Alhassan, the group noted won the Northern Taraba senatorial election on the platform of the PDP when she defeated her political godfather, former Governor Jolly Nyame who later challenged her victory in the court without success.
“In 2011 she won a senatorial election in the PDP because of the party’s stronghold. Today, Ishaku is governor because the PDP has been deeply rooted in Taraba,” the group said.
