Worried over the non-availability of electricity in Aniocha and Oshimili communities in Delta State for over seven years, the member representing Aniocha North state constituency in the House of Assembly, Osi Okocha, has constituted a 10-man committee to investigate the slow pace of work by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.
Okocha, who stated this in Asaba yesterday, while reacting to the epileptic power supply in Asaba and environs, said BEDC is yet to restore electricity to those communities, as it is still repairing the damaged lines.
The legislator noted that the issue of power supply has become worrisome in Aniocha, advising his constituents to be patient.
According to him, it is a bitter experience. Electricity is essential in life, apart from any other business, we sleep with light and artisans also need it. So it is something that is very useful to the community.
While assuring his people that he will vigorously pursue the matter till the end, the legislator averred that the committee in collaboration with the state Ministry of Energy would visit the zonal office of BEDC to find out when electricity would finally be supplied to Aniocha area.
