Mr Terkimbir Ikyange, Speaker, Benue House of Assembly, has called on the people of his constituency to report criminal elements in their midst to end persistent rape and robbery attacks on them.
He made the call on Sunday at Hiitom Orbiam, Ikov council ward, Ushongo local government area, at an occasion organised by 15 elders to honour him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Ikyange had in July donated 15 motorcycles to the elders which informed their decision to honour him.
The speaker urged the people to feel free to furnish him with information on criminals in their midst and promised to pass such information to the relevant security agencies.
He promised to assist them with job opportunities and appointments to improve the well being.
Earlier, the District Head of the area, Chief Daniel Ayada, informed the speaker that his people were no longer sleeping in the night due to frequent attacks by criminals.
“They (criminals) torture and inflict various degrees of injuries on our men; they also rape our ladies,” he said.
Mr Tyosar Orkyaa, who spoke on behalf of the 15 elders, said the occasion was to reciprocate the honour done to them by the speaker. (NAN)
