Mr Oghene Egoh, the Rep-elect for Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, on Monday promised that he would not disappoint his constituency.
He made the promise in a statement he issued in Lagos ahead of the inauguration of 8th National Assembly (NASS) which will hold on Tuesday.
Egoh, who was elected on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said that he would make laws for the betterment of Nigeria satisfactory.
“On the 9th of June, all newly elected members of the National Assembly will take oath of office to herald the 8th Assembly. For me, this event calls for sober reflection.
“I promise the people of Amuwo-Odofin that I will not disappoint them.
“You have elected me to make laws for the betterment of Nigeria and I will do it to your satisfaction,” he promised.
The Rep-elect, who is a non-indigene of Lagos, thanked the PDP for giving him opportunity to contest the election on their platform.
He also thanked the people of his constituency for giving him their mandate to represent them in the NASS.
“I thank the non indigenes, the Ibos, the South-South, the Arewas and the Yoruba.
“You are wonderful people, without your support, this victory would not have been possible,” he said
Egoh called on other tribes in Nigeria to allow non-indigenes to contest elections in their areas.
“In the last election in Britain, four Nigerians won elections. In Poland, a Nigerian won,’’ he said.
The rep-elect, who dedicated his victory to the Aworis, among whom he had sojourned for about 30 years, said he considered himself as one of them.(NAN)
