The member of the House of Representatives representing Kebbe/Tambuwal federal constituency of Sokoto State, Alhaji Abdulsamad Dasuki
, has donated 50 laptops for distribution to outstanding students of tertiary institutions from his constituency.

Alhaji Dasuki, who succeeded Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal when he resigned to contest the governorship of the state, said that the gesture was aimed at improving learning and building the capacity of our future leaders.

He said that education had gone beyond merely attending an institution and obtaining a certificate because “education is now at the heart of the evolution and revolution of technology”, adding that his intervention would give the beneficiaries a better footing to achieve greater things in life.

According to him, a seven-man committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Professor Sani Mohammed Dangogo, has been appointed to identify and distribute the computers to deserving students from his constituency studying in Shehu Shagari College of Education, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Umaru Shinkafi Polytechnic and Sokoto State University.

The federal legislator, who also presented a desktop computer and a printer to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), said that as far as constituency projects were concerned, his priority has been on education, water and health.

He said that he has been able to bring twelve boreholes which have been constructed and commissioned as well as N250 million worth of erosion control project.

Alhaji Dasuki stated that the location of the projects was determined by need as he was always in touch with his constituents.

Professor Dangogo praised Dasuki for his gesture ad assured that his committee would do justice to the assignment.
