Public primary and secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, are expected to fully resume for a new academic year today, after several weeks of holidays. To this end, the FCT Education Secretariat has directed all school heads to mobilise their teachers and students.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of FCT Secondary Education Board, Odugbo Sarah, noted that the acting Director of the Board, Hajia Rakiat Daniya, after meeting with the principals of the schools, told them that FCT administration remained committed to delivering qualitative, efficient and sustainable education.
She urged them to continue to bring to bear their wealth of experience to lay a solid educational foundation in their various schools, stressing that the Board will not toy with capacity building of teachers, development of non-teaching staff, creating opportunities as well as academic, moral, civic and other positive extra-curricular improvement of students.
Hajia Daniya assured that the FCT Administration had put in place various strategies aimed at boosting teachers’ morale, students’ academic performance, provision of facilities in schools, as well as adequate security measures for the success of the new term.
She reminded them of the possibility of increase in enrolment in schools as a result of the significant influx of people into the FCT, stressing that FCT administration would not relent in its efforts in making education accessible and affordable to accommodate the extra emergencies.
