*Says serving northern governor among terrorists’ leaders
*That 2 repentant terrorists identified the northern governor
*Insists insurgents already infiltrated southern part of Nigeria
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has warned that activities of the Boko Haram sect may lead to a second civil war in Nigeria by 2022.
Dr. Mailafia specifically said that by 2022, they (Boko Haram insurgents) want to start a civil war in Nigeria.
He therefore appealed to the federal government and other relevant authorities not to take his statement as a joke.
“Don’t joke with what I am saying, I have a PhD from Oxford University, I am central banker, we don’t talk nonsense, I have this from the highest authority – some of the commanders of the Boko Haram,” he declared.
Speaking further, the former Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s apex bank disclosed that repentant terrorists revealed that a serving northern governor is a Boko Haram leader.
Dr. Mailafia who spoke on a radio programme monitored in Abujan the nation’s capital, recalled that he had a chat with two repentant terrorists who identified the northern governor, explaining that terrorists and bandits were one and the same.
The former top banker who was also the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in the 2019 general election further revealed that the terrorists freely moved weapons across the country even during the lockdown caused by the dreaded outbreak of coronavirus also known as COVID-19.
“Some of us also have our intelligence networks, I have met with some of the bandits, we have met with some of their high commanders – one or two who have repented and they have sat down with us not once, not twice.
“They told us that one of the northern governors is the commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria, Boko Haram and bandits are one and the same, they have a sophisticated network, during this lockdown, their planes were moving up and down as it there was no lockdown.
“They were moving ammunition, moving money and distributing them across different parts of the countryn” he added.
According to Mailafia, Boko Haram had already infiltrated southern part of the country, adding that their plan was to spark a second civil war.
To buttress his claims, Dr. Mailafia said he was not one that makes spurious and unfounded allegations.
“They are already in the south, in the rain forests of the south, they are everywhere, they told us that when they finish these rural killings, they will move to phase two.
“Phase two is that they will go into urban cities, going from house to house, killing prominent people. I can tell you, this is the game plan,” he further stated.
