Board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Mr. Amaju Pinnick are heavily divided over the age and health status of the new Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, a German, Germot Rohr. The man is being shielded from the public eyes and the press because of his look. Sources inside the football house told www.gongnews.net that the NFF top shots ensured that the deal is sealed before unveiling the German who does not look fit for the rigours of taking the Eagles through the World Cup qualifiers. “That man looks like someone in his seventies and not sixties,” our in-house squealer revealed. Besides this, the deal was sealed behind majority of the board members who felt the German that was sacked from his last duty post in Africa does not deserve the Nigerian job. “Since he arrived the country, he was kept at Transcorp Hilton where they hope he will be refreshed well before meeting the public,” our source added. Majority of the board members want the German to have medics before the final engagement. Germot we learnt will be leaving for Brazil where he would officially commence duty working with coach Samson Siasia. Though, this plan may not receive the blessing of the Ministry and the NOC so it may not see the light of the day. Another source in the Glass House said the new Technical Adviser was never part of the original candidates who applied for the job of coaching the Super Eagles as he was hand-picked by Amaju Pinnick causing a great disaffection wihin the board, hence the delay in announcing his arrival and unveiling to the now jaundiced Nigerian sporting media. It will be recalled that the German tactician was signed behind closed doors earlier in the week. Rohr, if he eventually gets to near the team, will be expected to step out with the Super Eagles for the first time when Nigeria hosts the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in a 2007 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Port Harcourt in few weeks.
