President of the Kaduna based United Church of Christ in Nigeria, Reverend Emmanuel Dziggau and two others, have been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen in Kaduna.
The said abductors were also said to have demanded for N100m ransom to secure the release of the reverend father and the two others.
The Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. George Dodo confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kaduna yesterday.
Rev. Dodo while confirming the incident said he heard of the “unpleasant” incident yesterday.
He however called on security agencies to do all they could to unmask the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
According to him, “Government should put in motion all its security apparatus to ensure the liberation of those abducted.”
It was gathered that, the three men were kidnapped at their Church crusade ground along the Kaduna-Abuja highway Monday morning.
The gun men who were said to have been wearing masks reportedly stormed the crusade ground of the church on Monday and abducted the clergy man and two members of the church while other church members managed to escape.
The General Secretary of the church and one of the eye witnesses, Rev Jibrailu Wobiya who confirmed the abduction to our correspondent, said that Reverend Dziggau and some members were at the area to clear the crusade ground, preparatory to their forthcoming church programme when the gunmen stormed the site and abducted the three of them.
He added that him and few others were lucky to have escaped into the bush while the three men were whisked way by the gunmen.
He said the suspected kidnappers are demanding N100 million ransom before they will release the Reverend and the other two church members.
Also, spokesman for the Northern States Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Josesph Hayab has condemned the abduction of the cleric and two members of his church.
He called on the kidnappers to release the three men unconditionally or be prepared to incur the wrath of God.
Hayab, also called on security agencies to move into action and free the abductees from captivity.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna Police command is yet to confirm the kidnap saga at the time of filling this report.
Several phone calls put on to the Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Abubakar Zubairu were neither answered nor returned.
