Christians in Rivers State have felicitated with Muslims as they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival, and prayed to the Almighty God to guide, guard and bless them all through the period.
Wishing them well yesterday was the chairperson of the Rivers State Christians Pilgrim Welfare Board, Mrs Biobele Odesola, who also expressed her sympathy with them over the unfortunate stampede that occurred at the holy land of Mecca, at which 300 pilgrims died while 450 injured as they climbed the mount Arafat on Thursday, September 17, to stone the devil.
Mrs Odesola urged them to bear the incident with fortitude, wishing that the recent accident and the crane disaster at the Saudi Mosque some weeks ago never occurred, and assured them that the Almighty Allah in His infinite mercy would grant the victims eternal rest.
She also advised the Muslims to always pray for peace and harmonious co-existence with other religious sects in the state and country in general.
On the insecurity and Boko Haram insurgency in the country, Odesola commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the success his administration had recorded so far in combating insecurity, observing that it was not easy to fight a gorilla war fare.
The chairperson urged the people of Rivers State to support the president to succeed in his anti corruption crusade in the country, for the common good of all Nigerians.
Mrs Odesola urged all Rivers people to join hands with Governor Nyesom Wike in his all inclusive government, noting that the achievements the governor had recorded within his 100 days in office was an index of “the glory of God” that awaits the state in his regime, as packaged in the’ New Rivers Vision.’
“Our dear governor is passionate about the progress of his people, and he is determined to fulfill his electioneering campaign promises, draw up realistic and realisable health, education and economic policies that will ensure security of lives and property, strong economy and job opportunity for the Rivers people through Public-Private Partnership.”
