River State People’s Democratic Party, PDP has insisted that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate on the April 11 governorship election, Mr Dakuku Peterside lied by saying that the Rivers State National and State Houses of Assembly Tribunal allocated 20 seats to his party and left 11 seats to the PDP.
“Our attention has been drawn to a false statement credited to the defeated Rivers State APC governorship candidate, Mr. Dakuku Peterside who was quoted by Thisday newspaper of Tuesday October 27,2015 on page 8 as lying to reporters that the Rivers State National and State Houses of Assembly Tribunal allocated 20 seats to his political party and left 11 seats to the PDP”.
PDP described it as unfortunate that the Rivers State APC and her governorship candidate can resort to rampant falsehood and political mischief in their pursuit for power. It maintained that for the avoidance of doubt, “the Tribunal in flawed judgments ordered for re-run of State Assembly Elections in 20 State Constituencies.”
In a document make available to journalists in Abuja, PDP stated that the April 11governorship and Assembly election was held successfully in the state, adding that the APC candidate has by his press conference divulged the truth already known to Nigerians.
“After claiming that elections did not hold in the respective constituencies, it is hypocritical for the defeated Rivers State APC candidate to turn around to claim that his party won in 20 State Constituencies.
“Mr Dakuku Peterside can continue to build castles in the air. What he failed to get through the polls, he cannot get it through flawed judgments. Rivers people totally rejected APC on April 11 and the party of traitors stand rejected”, PDP said.
