RIVERS State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), has observed with displeasure, nonchalant attitude of some service providers in their task of evacuating dirt and wastes in their zones, with the consequent build-up of refuse on the affected roads and streets. Expressing his displeasure with the ugly development, the Sole Administrator of the agency, Brother Felix Obuah in Press statement, warned that appropriate measures and sanctions against such defaulters were still in force, and would not hesitate to reprimand the defaulting contractors accordingly. While appealing to the service providers to have a change of heart, Brother Obuah, urged them to ensure that, the roads and streets were clean and ridden of refuse.
“May I therefore warn for the last time that, all those service providers in the affected zones risk being sacked, to make room for more serious and committed partners, so as not to compromise the efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike, who has put all necessary machinery in place, to restore the Garden-City status of Port Harcourt and its environs”, the Sole Administrator stressed. Brother Obuah however used the opportunity to felicitate and
congratulate the Muslims for a successful completion of the Ramadan fast, wishing them and all service providers a happy Eid- el-Fitri celebrations. The Sole Administrator also advised the service providers and indeed, all stakeholders, to imbibe the good morals of the Ramadan period and reflect same in their behaviours, actions and responsibility of keeping the environment clean, safe and healthy for all.
