Genevieve Nnaji’s debut movie, ‘Road to Yesterday’, was last Wednesday, October 27 shown to a selected group of movie critics, entertainment personalities and showbiz journalists.
The special screening held at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas was attended by top celebrities including Richard Mofe Damijo, Chigul among others.
“Road to Yesterday”, which tells the story of an estranged couple, who try to mend their relationship on a road trip to a relative’s funeral.
The producer after the film was screened for the audience, revealed she was motivated to do something new and tell the Nigerian love story in a way it has never been told, “Our stories look too predictable,” she said.
The movie was directed by Ishaya Bako, a London Film School Alumni and the creator of Braids on a Bald Head, the Best Short Film at the 2012 edition of AMAA Awards.
The lead male act, Oris Erheuro, who plays Izu, Genevieve’s husband in the movie is a Nigerian born British actor widely acclaimed for his role in ‘The Simbad Adventures’.
He previously starred in movies like: The Bill, Highlander: Endgame, Black Mask 2, Sometimes in April and many others. Oris is also a runway model and studied Theatre and Film at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. The movie also stars Majid Michel, Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah and veteran Ebele Okaro.
Road to Yesterday, a love story, is the first production of The Entertainment Network as a production company and it will go across Nigerian cinemas on November 27 after its premiere on Wednesday, November 18.
