Seven persons, including suspected armed robbers, were feared killed in Zari village of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State last Monday.
Nigerian Pilot gathered yesterday that some unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers stormed Zari village and robbed a well known family man, Nuru Usman, and in the process shot him to death.
The shooting of the man triggered youths in the area to mobilise and chase the suspected armed robbers until they were caught and killed.
Confirming the incidence to journalists in Bauchi, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Muhammad confirmed the report, saying that six gunmen suspected to be armed robbers killed the victim, but they were all killed by the villagers after taking them to their village head.
DSP Haruna stated that before the arrival of the police team, irate youth in their hundreds over powered the elders and succeeded in killing all the suspected armed robbers.
He warned members of the public against taking laws into their hands as the command would not fold its arms and allow flagrant disregard to the rule of law as anyone arrested would face severe legal consequences.
