Honorable Kwamoti Bitrus La’ori, is the representative of Demsa/Numan/Lamurde federal constituency of Adamawa state at the National Assembly, Abuja.
A member of 10 standing Committees of the 9th Assembly namely: Aids, Loans & Debt Management; Banking & Currency; Constitution Review; Culture & Tourism; Emergency& Disaster Preparedness; Environment; FCT Judiciary; Interior; Rules & Business and Public Petitions.
He is an Attorney at law with over 24 years experience in legal practice and consultation
Barrister La’ori, started his political career as a state legislator at the Adamawa State House of Assembly in 2007. He was reelected to serve a second term in 2011.
From 2007 to 2015 while at the state Assembly, La’ori, served in the top hierarchy of the Assembly, as Speaker, deputy Speaker, deputy Majority Leader and Chief Whip.
Congruent to his lawmaking role, La’ori, sponsored over 16 bills from 2007 to 2015, among which many, have brought beautiful reformation to institutional systems in the state.
As things stand, he holds the history of sponsoring more bills since creation of the state. Consequently, he has been noted and honored for the feat.
The most notable bill is the one on urban planning which the national association of Urban Planners presented him with an award.
Some of the celebrated bills are: (1). A bill for a law to provide and protect the rights and responsibilities of a child; a
system of child justice administration, the care and supervision of the child in
Adamawa state and matters ancillary thereto.
(2). A bill for a law to make provision for the establishment of the Adamawa state
primary health care development agency/authority and other matters thereto.
(3). A bill for a law to make provision for the establishment of compulsory reserve fund for the state in which is to be saved a certain part of the earnings of the state for use in times of emergency and for matters connected therewith.
Kwamoti La’ori, an experienced legislator with over eight years of phenomenal representation at both the State and National levels; was born on October 17,1966 in Numan, Adamawa state.
He started his early education at Numan III Primary School, Numan, Adamawa state; where he obtained First School Leaving Certificate in 1980.
Climbing through the academic ladder, La’ori was at Government Secondary School, Uba, Adamawa state, for his West African School Certificate (WASC), which he obtained in1985.
In final preparation for his ‘A’ levels, he attended the defunct College of Preliminary Studies, Yola, for
IJMBE, and completed in 1988.
By 1994, he had bagged his first Degree in law, LLB (Hons), from the prestigious University of Jos, Plateau state. Thereafter, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos State, for his
(BL) Certificate, and was called to the Bar in 1995.
After the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps, at Central Insurance Company (CICO) Lagos from 1995-1996; he was moved by leadership drive to acquire a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, in 2013.
Hon. Kwamoti also holds Certificate in Investigation Specialization, Detecting Deception & Lies as well as Certificate in Intelligence Gathering; obtained from the International Security Organization (ISO/SEC) and ISA, Switzerland.
He started his legal practice at the LD Nzadon & Co. Manna Chambers, as a Senior Solicitor from 1996 to 2007, when recorded his successful political debut.
His role among others at Manna Chambers, was to oversea all activities of the junior lawyers and to deal with all complex legal
transactions, offering solutions.
The grassroots politician, is noted for playing a central role in the emergence of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who was his colleague at the state Assembly; and remains his trusted ally.
He is also noted for community service, humanitarian activism, quality representation, patriotism and Philanthropic activities.
Through his functional constituency office in Numan, the Representative, has provided supports in cash to indigent constituents with medical challenges,
He sponsored rural electrification in Bille and Kpasham, wards, etc. He also supports widows and other disadvantaged families with various business starter packs, like sewing machines, agricultural implements.
The member, sponsored the construction of a solar powered borehole in Anguwan Bali in Demsa town and Farai; industrial borehole in old Demsa and facilitated the rehabilitation of Numan water treatment plant, among several others.
The Reps Member, also has a running scholarship scheme to assist underprivileged youths in secondary and tertiary institutions. Just he also provides pro-bono legal services to the less privileged.
Also to his credit are the ICT center in Lamurde, a constructed and fully equipped extermination hall Imburu and an event center in Demsa; among several other business starter packs and palliatives given to support his constituents.
To address youth restiveness and petty crimes in the society, he also sponsors annual sports competitions to promote unity and engage the youth meaningfully.
Kwamoti, organises periodic skill acquisition trainings for women and youths. At the end, he facilities federal government’s credit facility and other grants to boost the people’s enterprise.
To his constituents, La’ori stands out, for introducing a robust feedback mechanism, through which he engages with constituents from each of the 30 wards to present his accomplishments and plans for the future.
During the interface, issues are reviewed to address the people’s demands, electioneering promises; with particular emphasis on Security, youth employment/empowerment and critical infrastructure development.
For that his constituents have presented him as the first representative who never relented in maintaining close contact with his constituency, especially in times of crisis such as flood and security challenges.
La’ori, is a member of many Professional associations and clubs, including, (1). the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Yola Branch; (2). the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Yola Branch (Served as Vice Chairman) and (3). National Executive member of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria.
Born to Mr. Bernard Lao’ri and Mildred La’ori, a famous educationist and a Nurse respectively; Hon. Kwamoti La’ori, is married to Dr. Celine La’ori and they are blessed with four children.
