RYAN GIGGS is reportedly closing in on a sensational move to become the new boss at Nottingham Forest.
Giggs’ future at Manchester United was thrown into major doubt following Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Old Trafford.
The Welshman had hoped to succeed Louis van Gaal at the United helm but was overlooked in favour of the former Chelsea chief.
Giggs has been with the club for 29 years as both a player and a coach but he is now said to have agreed to leave.
The 42-year-old has decisions to make this summer after the arrival of Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s successor at Manchester United.
That directly impacted on Giggs, whose role as No 2 will be taken by Mourinho’s trusty lieutenant Rui Faria.
The former winger has been offered a fresh title under the new regime, thought to act as a link between the Under 21s and first team.
The Mirror report that Giggs wants to land his first full managerial role instead and is set to take charge of Forest.
Dougie Freedman was sacked in March and Paul Williams has been in temporary care at the City Ground since.
Giggs was the interim boss of United following David Moyes’ sacking in 2014 and now it is claimed he will land his first permanent job in top-level management.
Forest finished a disappointing 16th in the Championship last season, winning just 13 of their 46 games.
