Wife of Niger State Governor, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello, during the week end distributed wheelchairs, tricycles, and food items to people with disabilities in the state.
According to Dr Bello who gave out the items at the Abdulsalami Youth Centre during the distribution of aids, appliances and food items to people with disabilities, the gesture was aimed at cushioning the sufferings of people living with disabilities and to give them a sense of belonging.
She also said it was her own way of celebrating the Sallah, urging non-governmental organisations and corporate service providers to join in alleviating the suffering of the people with disabilities in the society.
She assured the people that the state government will carry them along, do everything it could to ensure that they acquire skills to enable them fend for themselves rather than begging on the streets.
She thanked the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation for collaborating with the 36 states in the area of providing support and succour for people with disabilities.
The wife of the Governor distributed 32 tricycles, 40 wheelchairs, 10 walking support, 2 crutches, 80 bags of rice, 40 cartoons of vegetable oil.
