Nigerian army has claimed that Boko Haram terrorists residence in dreaded Sambisa forest are now seeking new refuge, following military troops’ determined efforts to annihilate the insurgents in North-East region.
Consequently, the army high command has called on members of the public to be more vigilant and security conscious so as not to harbour such terrorists in their neighbourhood.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, in a statement issued yesterday, stressed that the terrorists are surreptitiously fanning out of their last enclaves in Sambisa to cause havoc or seek refuge elsewhere.
Col. Usman also said attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a number of groups and individuals celebrating the routing out and decimation of Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria, but disassociate the army from such celebrations and solidarity rallies.
Part of the statement said, “So much as we thank them for that, it is imperative to state that we do not begrudge such persons their desire to identify and associate themselves with this success.
“We also would like to advice that they tread with caution as this could be distractive to us”, the statement appealed.
The army spokesman said the public should rather support the military with intelligence that will enable it clear the remnants of these terrorists wherever they might flee.
“We would like to reassure the public that we will remain professional and focused in clearing the remnants of these criminals on the Nigerian soil.
