EVANGELICAL Reformed Church of Christ, ERCC has dissociated itself from gay marriage being practised in some parts of the world, saying it is against the teachings in the scriptures.
President of the church, Very Reverend Jerry Modibo who made this position on behalf of the church while speaking at the 2015 Reverends’ annual fellowship in Lafia at the weekend, maintained that it was the position of the Holy Bible that a man and a woman shall come together as husband and wife, hence the church will not condone the practice of gay marriage.
“May I on behalf of the ERCC church and the leader of this church state our position clearly, that ERCC is never in anyway and we will never support the issue of gay marriage because it is against the practice of the scriptures.”
Speaking further at the conference with the theme, “The Pastor: An Agent of Transformation,” the ERCC President called on his colleagues in all denominations to ensure that their families are first saved so as to be able to save others.
“Brethren, there is no way we will transform the world if the church is not transformed. There is no way we will affect the world if our immediate communities are not affected.”
He stressed that, “There is no way we will cause a change in our present world if we ourselves have not changed.”
The man of God, who decried the current challenges of corruption and insecurity in the country, challenged ministers of God to take the task with vigour, stressing that God had brought them at a time that is expecting them to cause a change.
