AHEAD OF the Social
Democratic Party, SDP, national
convention, where the leadership
of the party will be elected, the
North Central caucus of the party
has endorsed the current national
chairman, Chief Olu Falae, for a
second tenure.
The north central chapter of
the SDP rose from a marathon
meeting at its zonal office,
Thursday night, with affirmative
nod for the former presidential
candidate of the Alliance for
Democracy to retain the seat
because of his sterling qualities
and enormous efforts to take the
party to the highest level.
A release signed by the Niger
State chairman of the party
and deputy national publicity
secretary, Alfa Mohammed,
said that the decision to endorse
Chief Falae was informed by his
selfless, credible and transparent
leadership which has been
the main source of the party’s
growing popularity and survival
since registration.
The chairmen said the zone
opted to support the second
tenure aspiration of their
national chairman because he
has injected immense man power
management, vast political contact
and clout to the party, stressing
that gains made so far would
multiply if the chief is allowed to
continue to steer the ship.
According to the release, the
meeting further sub zoned all the
national office slots to respective
zones to foster unity and
understanding within the north
central states.
Accordingly, the positions of
zonal vice chairman and national
legal adviser were given to Benue
State, national publicity secretary
to Niger State, deputy national
treasurer to Nasarawa State,
assistant national organising
secretary to Kwara State, while
the post of asst national secretary
is zoned to Kogi State and the
national ex-office and assistant
national welfare to Plateau State
and the FCT respective.
The SDP national convention
is scheduled to be held on
Wednesday, March 9.
