Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun will appear before the House of Representatives today at plenary to speak on the state of the economy, particularly on how the country’s dwindling economy could be diversified.
Adeosun’s appearance before the lawmakers is in continuation of the ongoing sectoral debates on the diversification of the economy.
In a press statement by the speaker’s spokesman, Hassan Turaki, the appearance of the minister is the fifth in a series of debates on how to diversify Nigeria’s oil-based economy.
The initiative, themed: ‘sectoral debate,’ is part of the legislative agenda of the 8th National Assembly.
The sectoral debates will focus on addressing issues of national importance, from communication to social welfare.
Ministers that have made presentations in the debates include: the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed; Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh; Minister of Commumications, Shittu Adebayo and Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi.
The House commenced the sectoral debates on May 3, 2016 and is in consistent with the 8th Assembly’s legislative agenda and standing orders, and will address challenges facing different aspects of the Nigerian economy.
