Says he’s Tompolo’s proxy

Stakeholders in the Niger Delta region has raised concern over the appointment of Tikari Danjuma, son of the former Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilous Danjuma, Rtd. as the Coordinator of the Niger Delta Riverine Security Programme by the federal government recently, arguing that the newly appointed Coordinator is a protégé of the region’s “most wanted fugitive” Government Ekpemukpolo a.k.a. Tompolo.

The National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, through its Director Media, Publicity and Strategy, Ben Onyemaechi, made this known in a press statement issued in Abuja over the weekend adding that Danjuma who hails from Taraba state lacks the needed moral requisites to coordinate security in the region stating that apart from moral deficiency, he is tied to the apron spring of both the sponsors and sympathizers of the unrepentant ethnic militia group, the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA.

The statement averred further that it was obvious to genuine stakeholders in the region that the appointment is a wrong one as Tikari Danjuma is a proxy of notable militants saying: unless the FG reverses his appointment nothing meaningful can be achieved by a man described as a stooge to those who see the region as their exclusive preserve.

According to the Coalition, Tikari was only holding forth for Tompolo as he holds meeting regularly with those who are opposed to national interest, saboteurs of national assets and enemies of the Nigerian state.

The separatist elements according to the group’s image maker have hijacked the peace building process in the region by the appointment of Tikari and are ready to use same at will to hoodwink the Federal government into doing their biddings; “but as foot soldiers to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, we owe it a duty to protect the interest of the state and not of an ethnocentric godfathers whose stock in trade is grandstanding and deception.

“When Danjuma and his sponsors including the campaigners of vicious calumny against Buhari presidency were doing their trade to stop the emergence of this government, we were in the political trenches fighting to enthrone Buhari’s leadership. We achieved it, When they formed their ill fated NDA to thwart Buhari’s administration, we stood firmly with the security agencies to ensure peace reigns in our region.

“When Tompolo’s Avengers came up with their greedy separatist agenda in the region, we stood on the side of national solidarity and unity of our great country. Today, the same spoilers are the ones whom the Federal government has allowed to hijack the peace we fought for. It’s most unfortunate that the government at the centre has played into the hands of the enemies of regional peace.”
The statement reads in part, adding: “Shall we fold our arms and watch Tompolo and his surrogates take over security in the region? We say no to this and that’s why they have begun their usual blackmail. For the records, we are men of honour and integrity to whom security, peace and indivisibility of the Nigerian state make a huge sense and therefore we don’t engage in crimes and criminalities to get government’s attention.
Our concern is that genuine lovers of peace be appointed to positions in the region and not notable demagogues.” The group stated.

The pro Buhari Ex-militants’ group called on the people of the region to rise in support of the Buhari led administration noting that no meaningful development can be achieved without peace in the region while urging the FG to expedite action on the development of the region noting that poverty occasioned by unemployment and other anti human vices still pervades the region as they pointedly asked the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, to withdraw the appointment of Tikari to pave way for a better candidate.
