A member of the 8th Senate representing Bauchi South, Senator Ali Wakili yesterday said that the upper legislative chamber will support the anti corruption crusade introduced by President Muhammad Buhari.
Senator Wakili disclosed this to our correspondent in an interview yesterday in Bauchi where he said members of the Senate are solidly behind President Buhari on his commitment to fight corruption in the country.
Senator Wakili stated that fighting corruption is part of APC policy and President Buhari is leading the crusade to recover the billions of naira short changed Nigerians, saying the senate is ready to provide legal backing to achieve the desire.
On the accusation made that the fight against corruption is selective, the former comptroller of customs dismissed such claim, saying it was PDP that misruled the resources of the country for 16 years and the wife of the Senate President would not have been investigated by EFCC if the fight is selective.
According to Wakili, members of the 8th senate have already sponsored 12 bills awaiting second reading, explaining that top among issues is the moves against insurgency, declaring that they don’t want to pass 60 bills in one day.
